Who we are

ByteBarker LLC operates this website and provides platform engineering consulting services. Our registered address is 11710 Plaza America Drive, Suite 2000 #1151, Reston, VA 20190, USA. You can reach us at [email protected].

Information we collect

We only collect personal information you actively provide:

  • Contact form submissions: name, email address, phone number (optional), and the contents of your message.
  • Booking submissions: name, email address, phone number, the time slot you select, and any notes you include about your engagement.
  • Analytics: aggregate, anonymous page- view and referral data via our self-hosted Umami analytics instance. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, fingerprinting, or session-recording tools.
  • Server / CDN logs: IP address, user agent, request path, and timestamp, retained transiently for security and abuse-prevention purposes by us and by our CDN provider.

How we use it

The information you provide is used to:

  • • Respond to inquiries and schedule technical assessments.
  • • Deliver and operate consulting engagements you've contracted us for.
  • • Send transactional messages related to bookings or active engagements.
  • • Understand which pages and topics are useful so we can write better ones.
  • • Detect, prevent, or respond to security incidents and abuse.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not send marketing broadcasts. We do not share contact information with third parties for advertising.

Service providers we rely on

A small number of third parties process data on our behalf to make the site and booking flow work:

  • Content delivery + edge security provider — sees request metadata for every page load.
  • Transactional email service — sends booking confirmations, reminders, and password-reset messages. Sees recipient email addresses and message contents.
  • Proton Mail + Proton Meet — encrypted email for direct inquiries and encrypted video meetings for booked assessments. End-to-end encrypted; Proton cannot read message contents.
  • Self-hosted Umami — analytics. Runs on infrastructure we operate; no third-party access.

These providers are bound by their own privacy commitments and the limited data they receive is used only to provide their service to us.

Cookies

We use functional cookies required for the admin and client-portal authenticated surfaces (session identifiers, CSRF tokens). The marketing pages do not set tracking cookies. Our Umami analytics runs in cookie-less mode.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict how we use it, or receive a portable copy. You can exercise any of these by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and to whom we disclose it (described above), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

Data retention

Inquiry and booking submissions are retained for up to 24 months after the last interaction, then deleted. Active client engagement data is retained per the contract for that engagement. Server / CDN logs are retained for up to 30 days. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form indefinitely; individual sessions are not associated with identifiable persons.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by a notice on the site. The current version is always the one published here.
